The following are the rules for Club Records. If you believe you have established a record, reference to the following rules should be made through a Committee Member.
1.General
1.1 Club Records will only be recognised for Life Members and Swimming Members of the Club (as defined in and subject to the rules of the Club’s Constitution).
1.2 Club Records will only be recognised at swim meets in which a swimmer is competing as a representative of the Club, state or country.
1.3 Club Records are not eligible to be set in any event which is swum under handicap conditions.
1.4 Club Records are not eligible to be set in the following events organised by the Club:
1.4.1 The Peter McGowan Shield
1.4.2 The Admiral’s Cup
1.4.3 Fun Days
1.4.4 Relay events conducted during Club Time Trials
1.5 For the purpose of this policy, the age of the swimmer shall be taken as their age on the day of the relevant swim.
1.6 Only records set in long course pools (50 metres) will be recognised.
1.7 When electronic timing equipment is used and it is accepted by the meet organisers that the swimmer did not activate the timing devise at the end of the event, then:
1.7.1 if manual timekeepers were used, these times are used for record purposes subject to Clauses 1.8 and 1.9.
1.7.2 if manual timekeepers were not used, then the swim cannot be recognised for record purposes.
1.8 Times for record purposes must be recorded to two (2) decimal places (i.e. to the nearest one-hundredth of a second).
1.9 When manual timekeepers are used, a minimum of two (2) times from two (2) separate timekeepers must be recorded for a record to be recognized.
2. Distances and Strokes
2.1 Club Record will be recognized, for all age groups, in the following distances and strokes only:
- Freestyle 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 metres
- Backstroke 50, 100, 200 metres
- Breaststroke 50, 100, 200 metres
- Butterfly 50, 100, 200 metres
- Individual Medley 200, 400 metres
2.2 Club Records at intermediate distances may be claimed. e.g. the first 100m in a 200m event or the first swimmer in a relay
